Botanical name: Anthemis Nobilis - Roman Chamomile / Matricaria Chamomilla - German Chamomile
Botanical family: Compositae

Note: Middle

Part of plant used: Flower heads

Origin: Cultivated in Britain, Germany, France and Morocco. Easily spoilt, keeps only about 1 year.

Description: Fruity, apple-like fragrance.

History: Recognized by the Egyptians for its healing properties where nervous complaints were concerned.

Properties and Indications:

  • Anti-inflammatory particularly for the skin
  • Regulates menstrual cycle
  • Problems associates with menopause
  • Teething with children
  • Hypochondriacs
  • Migraines, insomnia, psychosomatic allergies
  • Anorexia
  • Digestive problems in children - diarrhea, gastric and intestinal cramp
  • Inflamed skin conditions - eczema, burns, boils, herpes, conjunctivitis, uticaria
  • Nervous depression, hysterics, nervous crises
  • Fevers of nervous origin
  • Analgesic qualities - calms irritability, temperature and nerves
  • Calming for intense nightmares and paranoia

Personality:

  • Reserved, delicate, pale skinned

Contra-indications:

  • Not to be used in early pregnancy
