Lime Essential Oil

Botanical name: Citrus Aurantifolia
Botanical family: Rutaceae

Part of plant used: Peel

Origin: Lime can be found in warm climates such as Italy, the West Indies, and America.

Description: A light and sweet aroma with a slightly bitter undertone

History: Lime was known to prevent scurvy due to its high Vitamin C properties. Came to America from Europe in the 16th century.

Properties and Indications:

  • Good for colds, sore throats, and flu
  • Tonic to the immune system
  • Digestive stimulant - can help with loss of appetite
  • Can help with rheumatic pain
  • Suitable for oily skins

Personality:

  • Uplifting and refreshing to the mind
  • Can help with depression and anxiety

Contra-indications:

  • Do not expose yourself to the sun after using Lime as it can be photosensitive
