Use of Essential Oils for Neurological developmental Disorders & Developmental Immune Conditions

Neurological developmental Disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder (ADD), childhood depression, speech disorders, learning disabilities, OCD, and the list goes on, profoundly affects the central nervous system among many other areas. Autism and its milder form known as Asperger’s is a neurologically based developmental disorder that is generally discovered in children before the age of 3.

Recent neuroimaging studies have shown that a contributing cause for autism may be abnormal brain development beginning in the infant's first months. This "growth dysregulation hypothesis" holds that the anatomical abnormalities seen in autism are caused by genetic defects in brain growth factors. It is possible that sudden, rapid head growth in an infant may be an early warning signal that will lead to early diagnosis and effective biological intervention or even possible prevention of autism.

Most of the increase in children’s neurological developmental disorders and developmental immune conditions such as eczema, asthma, and allergies have been found to be related to major increases in brain and immune system inflammation related to increased exposure to toxic chemicals or dietary excitoxins. Excitotoxins are substances added to foods and beverages that literally stimulate neurons to death, causing brain damage of varying degrees. They can be found in such ingredients as monosodium glutamate, aspartame (Nutrasweet®), cysteine, hydrolyzed protein, and aspartic acid.
